Certified ServSafe Instructor & Registered ServSafe Examination Proctor Jenniffer Peña, a San Francisco native, began her program in 2018, Bay Area Servsafe Class. Jenniffer has come a long way from its beginnings, from having students completing their course in the back kitchen office & doing paper exams to now virtual training & online exams.
"When I first started in the restaurant industry back in 2007, my passion for food drove me to notice a crucial issue revolving in many different kitchens settings. Food Safety motivated to make a difference. I began my journey to become a ServSafe Manager instructor & proctor, providing the best training material for my fellow peers in the restaurant industry. The 2020 worldwide pandemic drove me to make a drastic change in getting students certified. It gave me the impetus to get more culinary staff certified, and bring awareness to the need for cleanliness, safe food handling, and proper managerial training. It was the inspiration to create our virtual version of the ServSafe Manager Course. We now serve students all over the San Francisco Bay Area in our traditional classroom setting with a safe social distancing approach. We are thrilled to be a part of the ongoing efforts to keep the culinary industry safe. At the same time, we adjust to our new normal".
